Largest Lake in South America

Lake Maracaibo in NW Venezuela is the largest lake in South America, it occupies an area of 5,130 square miles. The lake have been an attractive tourist place for local and foreign visitors. Maracaibo is the largest lake of the continent and one of the oldest bodies of natural water. It was formed nearly 35 million years ago in South America. The principal cities on the lake are cabimas and the port of maracaibo. The basilica is another favorite destination by all tourists on maracaibo lake. It is located at downtown maracaibo and consists of natural falls and baby mountains.
