Antara is the news agency of Indonesia and it is the official source of news throughout the country. It was established on December 13, 1937 by different national personalities, which had played a notable role in the freedom movements of the country including Adam Malik, A.M. Sipaholer, Soemanang and Pandoe Kartawigoena.

Antara was remolded in 1962 on the orders of President Soekarno who had played special attention towards its modernization and establishment. The organization has a head office in Jakarta (Capital of Indonesia) and has bureau offices in all the important cities of different states. The news agency has the responsibility to provide all the national and state affair coverage to the nation.
