Grizzly Bears are the most widely distributed species and is consider as the subspecies of Brown bear. It is a vital fact that all Grizzly bears can be named as brown bears but all brown bears cannot be termed as Grizzly bears. Their numbers are rapidly dwindling and tapering because of over hunting. They are large specie with big round ears and black nose. One unique characteristic of these bears are that they have hump at their back which give them extra power to dig and run. They are heavy like more than 700 pounds. Their diet consists largely of vegetation and other animals, including tubers which they dig up with their sharp claws, berries, fruits and nuts. They also feed on insect grubs, fish, carrion and young deer. When not in hibernation they can eat up to almost 16kg per day. Females give birth to their babies between January and March in the female’s lair. They are no hairs on the cubs when they take birth and are helpless. They may remain with their mother for as long as four years. They can live up to 20 to 25 years in normal and 25 to 30 years approximately in wild.

Polar Bears are cute looking white bears, live in the icy wastes of the Arctic poles. Among the carnivores they are the largest land carnivores. Polar Bears are born mostly on land, and much of the time usually spends at sea. They breed themselves by spearing the seals with their jaws from the sea and eat them. Polar bears’ long neck and narrow skull aid in streamlining the animal in water, and their large, flat and oar-like front feet make them strong swimmers. None of the other bear category has that much thickness of its fur as Polar bear have. Mostly female Polar bears used to give birth to their young in the dens dug in drifted snow, who are called as cubs, in the months of December and January. The weight of the cub is almost around 600g and the weight of female bear (mother) is around 300kg. The growth of Polar bear cub is quit rapid as the milk they get from their mother is very dense and full of fats. Cubs mostly live with their mother for approximately 28 months.

A bear commonly have large body with stocky legs, shaggy hairs and paws with five no retractile claws, and a little tail. They are considered to be the largest flesh-eating land mammals: They are so heavy that the biggest bear weighs three or more times as much as a oldest lion. Bears will sometimes kill large animals but they are mostly omnivorous, feeding on both plants and small creatures. Bears can even swim well and young ones can climb trees, but as they grow older n older they stop practicing such things. Bears although have poor eyesight and hearing, but their sense of smell is quit extra. They are usually in habit of living alone, but they do get together when there is plenty of food. They don’t go into deep hibernation, and it is at this time that females produce their young. The cubs are very small less than 1per cent of their mother’s weight.

<ahref="http://www.einfopedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/bears-picture.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-20346" title="Bears Picture"src="http://www.einfopedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/bears-picture.jpg" alt="" width="400" height="300"/>
Bears Picture

Types Of Bears

There are various types of Bears in the world. It is said that there are almost 8 types of bears round the globe. They are considered to be the largest Flesh-eating mammals on earth. Bear category has included in it one more type that is Giant Panda. Scientist has worked many years just to find out this truth that either Panda is from the raccoon family or from the bear one. But finally by doing DNA tests, studies have shown that that giant panda is more closely related to the bear. Other then Panda there are only seven types of bears in the world. Many bears are not the fierce predators we are often led to believe. Bears, wolves, hyenas and weasels’ combine to make up only four groups of carnivores that are related in their evolutionary descent from the miacid. Miacid are those creatures that lasted for more than 50 years. Hence the eight most renowned bears are named as Sun bear, Spectacled bear, Sloth bear, Asiatic Bear, Giant Pandas, Polar Bears, Brown Bears and last but not the least American Black Bears. They are the only ones which are present.

Seals and their relatives the sea lions and walruses are mammals whose four walking limbs are replaced with flippers, which make them slow and clumsy on dry land. But once they have slipped into the water, they are transformed. Their bodies are streamlined, and far more flexible than those of land mammals, so that they can twist and turn with amazing speed and grace as they play or chase after their prey. Seals are sea mammals. Most seals hunt fish. A few kinds feed on krill, and walruses eat shellfish and sea urchins. Seals can hunt in murky or dark water. They whiskers round their face can detect the changes in water pressure as something swims past. Even blind seals can feed.

Seals Picture

Seals can remain in the water, even in Polar Regions, for long periods. Beneath their skin they have a thick coat of special fat called blubber, which helps to keep them warm. When they dive they are able to close their nostrils and their ears. Some species can stay below the surface for over 30 minutes and can go to depths of over 600 m (2,000 ft). As they dive, they breathe out and hold their breath, at the same time slowing their heart rate to 4—15 beats per minute, so that the oxygen in their blood is used up more slowly.
