Varna is towards the northern end of the Black Sea coast, on the east of
Bulgaria, with Romania to the north and Turkey to the south. The capital,
Sofia, is 450km (293 miles) west. The city is located the end of Varna Bay
on a large, flat terrace on its northwestern curve. The city's hub, and its
old town, lies to the southeast, with the huge port to the southwest. The
beach stretches east, lined by the attractive Primorski Park, over 8km (5
miles) long.

2 Salvador is situated in the northeast of Brazil, on
the Atlantic coast of Bahia. Although it's a world away
culturally, Salvador is still some 1,700km (1,050 miles)
north of Rio and is one of the closest parts of South America
to Europe. The city occupies a hilly position on the tip of a
peninsula overlooking Baía de Todos os Santos (All Saints
Bay)

Salou
is on the Costa Dorada, on the east coast of Spain, 11km (7
miles) south of Tarragona and 110km (69 miles) southwest of
Barcelona. Reus Airport is 16km (10 miles) northwest. The
resort is mainly on the flat though the road does rise
steeply to the east as it goes around a headland to La
Pineda. Salou is very popular with British and other north
European package holidaymakers with young families.

Paradise Beach located In the Bahamas, Paradise Beach
sits at the north-western tip of Paradise Island, which lies
just opposite Nassau and is linked to New Providence Island
by toll bridge and ferry. It's about 10km (6 miles) from
Lynden Pindling International Airport and about five minutes
by car from the toll bridge. The beach overlooks the Atlantic
Ocean, backed by groves of casaurina pine and exotic foliage.

Nice Beach lies in the south of France on the famous
French Riviera. To the west are the resorts of Antibes and
Cannes, while Monte Carlo and Menton lie to the east. Nice
lies right on the Mediterranean Sea, between Antibes to the

Biarritz is situated in the southwest corner of France.
It overlooks the Bay of Biscay and the main Grande Plage
beach. The capital of the French Basque Country, Bayonne, is

Bandol lies on the Mediterranean Coast in the south of
France, between the cities of Marseille to the west and
Toulon to the east. The resort is located in the departement
of the Var. Toulon-Hyères (TLN) is the nearest airport.
Bandol draws a mixed crowd, from young people coming for the
water sports on offer to families attracted by the safe
beaches. Increasingly foreigners, mainly from Western Europe,
join locals in the summer.

Bali is located just off the eastern edge of the main
Indonesian island of Java. To the east is the neighbouring
island of Lombok, while the equator lies to the north. To the
south of Bali lies the expanse of the Indian Ocean, while to
the north is the Bali Sea. The island's main resorts of Kuta,
Nusa Dua and Sanur lie around the coastline in the south,
while the most popular inland resort with holidaymakers is
Ubud north of Sanur.

Amalfi is on Italy's western coast, south of Naples, on a
section known as the Amalfi coast. It is part of the Campania
region. Amalfi is around 72km (44 miles) south of Naples and
the nearest airport, and 15km (9 miles) from the resort of
Positano. Amalfi became a popular holiday destination with
British visitors in Edwardian times. It is still a favourite
resort for British travellers, especially the over 35s, and
features on many package tours.
