Tanganyika Lake Picture

Lake Tanganyika is the deepest lake in Africa. Its maximum depth is 1470 meters (4820 ft). It is also ranked as 2nd largest voluminous fresh water lake in the world, after “Lake Baikal”. It is divided between four countries-Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo. The water of lake flows into “Congo River” and meets its destination in Atlantic Ocean. Geographically the lake is situated in “Great Right Valley”. Its tropical stance, not allowing for turnover of water, attracts the people. Chichlid fish is another cause of its prominence.
