The Parliament of Zambia is called National Assembly. There are 158 members of National Assembly out of which 150 are elected by the people of Zambia who are 18 years old and above, while other 8 are nominated by the then President of Zambia. These 158 members of Parliament work for 5 years term for the welfare of their country and its citizens.
Parliament has formed few committees which work on all the aspects of their defined areas. These committees help in improving the administration activities of housekeeping, general Purpose and Portfolio.
The housekeeping Committee checks the work of employees of different associated institutions and reports it to the Speaker. It also examines and approves the estimate of National Assembly.
The Parliamentary Reforms and Modernization Committee works on examining and proposing the changes in practices, procedures, organizations and facilities of National Assembly.
Public Accounts committee’s work is to check and balance of accounts of members of National Assembly.
Committee on delegated legislations scrutinizes the powers that are making the rules and regulations.
Portfolio committees include Agricultural, Economic, Labor, Transport, Health, Social and Foreign Affairs of the country.
There is another committee for appointing the members for these committees.
The Parliament of Zambia is very assembled, and working in a systematic way.
